It’s all about content, right?

Imagine that a client calls and says, can you out our ad on YouTube? If you’re a YouTube user, the answer is obviously yes. Anything can be put on YouTube. But that creates another question. Why?

Why throw up an ad?

Why not?

There isn’t a good answer to that second question, but there could be some good answers to the first one. YouTube is obviously free advertsing space. you made a TV Spot, you add your spot to the billions of videos on YouTube, and with luck, people will watch it. We all heard stories about that happening and think, if we just get in the right place at the right time, we’ll win.

Wrong.

It’s about content. And having a plan.  What’s the goal Do you want people to look at your spots? Want them to comment on them? Want to keep adding spots and create a channel? What happens on the channel? These are all excellent questions, but ones to think about before getting up and doing it.

And yet, many, many people watch YouTube. So what’s the harm?
